SOCAP CANADA ELECTIONS
It is time again to elect the SOCAP Canada Board of Directors for 2005. The purpose of the Board of Directors is to direct the affairs of the society, determine policies and supervise the disbursement of SOCAP’s funds while carrying out SOCAP’s key objective of promoting excellence in the field of Consumer Affairs.
 
The following candidates have been selected by the Nominating Committee of SOCAP Canada to stand for election to the 2006 SOCAP Canada Board of Directors.

Members may nominate themselves or another SOCAP Canada Regular Member for any position on the Board. Board members hold office for 1 year and are eligible for re-election to the same position for one additional term.

Elections will take place at the SOCAP Canada Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, November 22, 2005. Meeting details will follow prior to the meeting.

 

PROFILES

Heather Forbes, a Customer Care specialist with over 15 years of experience. Her 7 person team of in-house Consumer Affairs experts and the dedicated outsourced team ensure that Maple Leaf Foods utilize their “Voice of The Consumer” department to their fullest.  Qualified as a Greenbelt Six Sigma expert, Heather brings a strong focus on improving metrics. Prior to joining Maple Leaf, she developed the first Consumer Affairs Department for Procter & Gamble Canada, created Customer Care Logistics role to improve B-B relationships with key accounts and integrated Consumer Affairs and Customer Service for Parmalat an International Dairy company.  Ms. Forbes also is actively involved in SOCAP.  She is currently the Canadian President and is a Director of SOCAP International.

Nicole Franc has held the role of the Consumer Response Supervisor at Scott Paper Limited for the past 4 years. During her tenure at SPL, Nicole has changed the role of the Consumer Response Department from merely a 'complaints department' to a 'full service consumer/customer center'.  The role of the Supervisor has been expanded to include Quality Assurance liaison duties, Red Flag administration, department expansion initiatives and many other interesting projects.  Internally, the Consumer Response Department has now integrated itself into the QA, Marketing & Trade Marketing areas, providing them with insightful consumer data as well as a consumer focused viewpoint.    Nicole served as SOCAP Vice-President during 2005.

Anja Mangin is new to SOCAP Canada and to Nestlé Canada Inc., where she succeeds Robin Hollis and Magda Mutch as Manager, Consumer Services. Anja has extensive experience in direct, partner, online marketing and call centre management both in Canada and abroad. After obtaining diplomas in international marketing from universities in Germany and Spain, she spend several years in direct marketing and customer service with Germany's largest newspaper publisher and ADL Partner Marketing (a relative of Publishing Clearing House in the U.S). She later assumed responsibility for direct and partner marketing for Internet provider AOL in Germany prior to transferring to the Canadian operations in Toronto. Anja served as SOCAP Canada Vice-President in 2005.

Francine Dupont  joined the Consumer Relations department of Nestlé Purina PetCare (formerly known as Ralston Purina Canada Inc.) eleven years ago.  Francine provides bilingual service to Canadian consumers, answering questions on pet care and pet nutrition and Nestlé Purina products.  Francine moved from Elliot Lake to the GTA over 19 years ago.  Though she does not have extended family in Ontario, Francine, her husband and 16 year old daughter have embraced this province as their own, truly enjoying what it has to offer and the friendliness of the people.  Francine joined SOCAP 3 years ago and has been an active member.

Edie Zon is the Managing Director of RQA Canada Ltd.  RQA, Inc. is an international quality assurance service company established in 1989 with operations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia-Pacific.  Ms. Zon's notable career achievements include the creation and business development of the Canadian office in 1994. For the past 12 years, Edie has assisted her clients with retail quality audits, consumer complaint and liability retrievals, withdrawal and crises management planning, product development and competitive market assessments.    Ms. Zon is an active member of related industry associations including, the Ontario Food Protection Association (OFPA), Women in Food Industry Management (WFIM), American Society of Quality (ASQ), the International Society of Beverage Technologists (ISBT) and the Canadian Institute of Food, Science and Technology (CIFST). Edie has served on several Boards of Directors and is currently Program Chair for the International Society of Beverage Technologists-Toronto Section, Director of SOCAP Canada and Secretary of CIFST-Toronto Section.   In 2002, Edie received the Marianne King-Wilson Award for Individual Achievement and Outstanding Contribution to SOCAP Canada.
