SOCAP Canada began in 1979 as a chapter of the U.S. organization, Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals in Business. In 1984, SOCAP Canada, SOCAP Italia, SOCAP U.K. and several other groups became affiliated with SOCAP U.S.
SOCAP Canada’s membership directory, revised regularly, gives members an up-to-date “who’s who” of the consumer affairs profession in Canada. It’s a valuable resource where colleagues can find solutions to common problems.
SOCAP also holds monthly business meetings. Past meetings have explored consumer research, illiteracy, new legislation, computerizing consumer response, product liability, crisis management, dealing with the media, telemarketing and a range of other topics.
